Vaisala Polaris™ PR53M PTFE-Body Process Refractometer

The Vaisala Polaris PR53M PTFE-body process refractometer is specifically designed to measure concentrations of aggressive chemicals, such as hydrochloric acid (HCl), sodium hydroxide (NaOH), sodium chloride (NaCl), and sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄). It is ideal for applications in the chemical and semiconductor industries. The integrated ultra-pure PTFE flow cell ensures that there are no metallic wetted parts, thus minimizing contamination risk and making it exceptionally suitable for contact with aggressive chemicals. The PR53M can be mounted to 1/2 inch process lines using a standard NTP-threaded connection.

  • Non-Metallic Wetted Parts: Features an integrated ultra-pure PTFE and sapphire flow cell, ensuring that no metallic parts come into contact with the process media. This minimizes contamination risk and makes it suitable for demanding environments and aggressive chemicals.
  • Reliable Optical Measurement: Provides accurate concentration measurements using the refractive index (RI). The RI can be measured from practically any liquid, including slurries, and responds to dissolved material. Measurements are not affected by bubbles, particles, suspended solids, or color.
  • Broad Measurement Capabilities: Capable of measuring potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, and more than 500 other concentration curves.
  • Low Maintenance: Inline process refractometers are easy to install and have no moving parts that require regular maintenance.
  • Accurate and Reliable: The optical measurement principle offers accurate and drift-free measurement. An integrated temperature measurement compensates for changing process temperatures, ensuring accurate concentration readings.
  • Easy Mounting: Various fittings and connections are available for 1/2 inch tubing, simplifying installation into process lines.
  • Outstanding Long-Term Stability: Delivers years of accurate, continuous, fast, and stable concentration measurement directly in the process stream, even in challenging environments.
  • Indigo520 Compatible: Can be directly interfaced or connected to a Vaisala Indigo520 transmitter. The Indigo520 provides data storage, a graphical interface, and analog and digital interfaces, enhancing process control. Settings, measurement parameters, and updates can be managed directly from the Indigo520 or via USB cable with Vaisala software.
