Hydramotion introduces revolutionary Scorpion™ melt flow technology

Hydramotion has introduced the Scorpion Melt Flow Technology, a breakthrough solution that brings precise, laboratory-level analysis for thermoplastics directly to the production line. The technology combines advanced engineering with a new, proprietary measurement technique specifically designed for the evolving demands of thermoplastic processing.

At the heart of this development are a state-of-the-art resonator, completely new wave mechanics, and a revolutionary spike architecture. This combination enables the sensor to capture both the elastic and viscous properties of polymer melts equally. While conventional in-line resonant viscometers primarily respond to the viscous component, Scorpion delivers the complete viscoelastic picture of the melt in real time.

Providing readings every 5 seconds, Scorpion delivers reliable data on viscosity, Melt Flow Index (MFI), and Intrinsic Viscosity (IV) under the most demanding process conditions, including high flow rates, extreme temperatures, and high pressures. This technology also forms the core of Hydramotion’s new ViscoMelt in-line sensor series. It empowers plant operators across the entire value chain to drive up quality, improve productivity, and significantly reduce waste.
