Vaisala has introduced new EX-certified versions of the Polaris PR53 process refractometers, extending reliable liquid concentration measurement into hazardous areas. Depending on the selected option, the refractometers can be installed in IECEx/ATEX Zone 0/1 (North America Class 1 Division 1) or Zone 2 (Class 1 Division 2).
The Polaris EX versions are designed to work with the Indigo520 transmitter. In Zone 0 / Class 1 Div 1 installations the Indigo520 and the associated intrinsically safe equipment are located in the safe area while the refractometer sensor is installed directly in the process. This architecture supports maximum productivity, easier maintenance and high process safety.
The EX option is available for multiple Polaris models (PR53ACEX, PR53APEX, PR53GCEX, PR53GPEX, PR53MEX and PR53WEX), covering a wide range of applications from chemicals and sugars to demanding oil & gas processes. Combined with the proven Polaris optics and modern digital communication, the new EX portfolio delivers accurate, real-time concentration measurement where it matters most.
