Vaisala Polaris™ PR53GP Probe Process Refractometer

The Vaisala Polaris PR53GP general-purpose probe process refractometer is designed for measuring concentrations of various solutions including sugars/Brix, acids, alkaline solutions, hydrocarbons, and solvents. It can be installed directly in a pipeline or tank, making it suitable for production and quality-control applications in the sugar, chemical, petrochemical, and other industries. The PR53GP continues the successful Vaisala K-PATENTS® process refractometer series, representing the latest generation of digital process refractometers based on 40 years of experience and continuous development.

  • Reliable Optical Measurement: Provides accurate concentration measurements using the refractive index (RI). The RI can be measured in almost any liquid and responds to dissolved material. Measurements are not affected by bubbles, particles, or crystals in the process, allowing for accurate measurements of different chemicals.
  • Broad Measurement Capabilities: Capable of measuring sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, and over 500 other concentration curves.
  • Outstanding Long-Term Stability: Delivers years of accurate, continuous, fast, and stable concentration measurement directly in the process stream.
  • Low Maintenance: Inline process refractometers are easy to install and have no moving parts that require regular maintenance.
  • Accurate and Reliable: The optical measurement principle offers accurate and drift-free measurement. Integrated temperature measurement ensures changing process temperatures do not affect concentration readings.
  • Easy Mounting: Can be installed in standard flanges, simplifying mounting to process lines. Optional cooling cover allows the instrument to tolerate high process pressures and temperatures. Optional flange-mounted pipe flow cell accessory enables installation in a wide variety of pipe sizes.
  • Durable Materials: Special alloy materials are available for demanding environments, providing durability under challenging process conditions. Other special materials and engineered solutions are available upon request.
  • Wash System: Most applications do not require wash systems due to a self-cleaning effect from the shear force of the process flow. For demanding applications with sticky conditions, a powerful wash system ensures correct measurement.
  • Indigo520 Compatible: Can be directly interfaced or connected to a Vaisala Indigo520 transmitter. The Indigo520 provides data storage, a graphical interface, and analog and digital interfaces. It is required for process control when washing is needed due to application or installation. Settings, measurement parameters, and updates can be managed directly from the Indigo520 or via USB cable with Vaisala software.
